I have one line and I use it every morning.

No colour, no voice, no plot. A man kept sketching his own cats instead of working, and one of them climbed off the page and started doing this to everybody else.

The entire routine

four in the morning, every morning
01
Lying down waiting

Lie exactly where he will step.

02
Walking in with tail up

Walk in. Tail up. Total confidence.

03
Tapping the empty bowl

Tap the bowl until something happens.

04
Washing after eating

Eat. Wash. Forget it ever happened.

Hanging from the curtain by both paws

Nobody wrote me. Somebody just kept drawing.

Simon Tofield had four cats and a bad habit of sketching them when he was supposed to be working. In 2008 one of those sketches turned into a minute of animation about a cat waking a man up for breakfast.

Nothing about it was built to travel. No colour to translate, no voice to dub, no joke that needs setting up. Anyone who has lived with a cat already knew what was about to happen before it happened.

and it still works, because the bit was never a bit
Holding up an empty bowl

Feed me.

That is the whole plot. It was the plot in the first film and it will be the plot in the last one. The bowl has never once been full enough to end the argument.
